More than a dozen B1G defensive players have been named to the 2021 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List. The group of candidates was released on Tuesday morning.
A total of 13 players from the B1G were included in this year’s watch list. It was the second-most for any league in college football. The SEC led the way with 20 candidates.
Ohio State was the leader in terms of players from the B1G on the list. Three Buckeyes received honors and Indiana was the only other program with multiple selections from the league. Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska, Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers and Wisconsin were also represented.
The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is presented to the best defensive player of the year in college football every year. This year, 90 candidates made the watch list. Here are the 13 from the B1G:
