2022 NFL Draft: Michigan’s Dax Hill taken in Round 1 by Cincinnati Bengals
Michigan defensive back Dax Hill was the second player of Michigan selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft on Thursday night. Defensive end Aidan Hutchinson was taken with the No. 2 pick by the Detroit Lions.
Hill was taken with the No. 31 pick by the Cincinnati Bengals. He had been projected as a mid-first round selection through most mock drafts leading into Thursday night.
Hill was all over Michigan’s secondary during a 12-2 campaign in 2021. The safety was credited with making 69 tackles, including 4.5 for loss in 14 games. He also broke up 8 passes, had 2 interceptions and had a fumble recovery.
The 2021 season was Hill’s most productive season in nearly every statistical category.
A former 5-star prospect, Hill spent three years at Michigan before declaring for the NFL Draft. He left Michigan with 149 tackles, 15 pass break-ups, 4 interceptions and 3 fumble recoveries.
Hill is still a raw prospect but has an incredibly high ceiling at the next level. It’s going to be fun to see what type of player he matures into when he arrives in Cincinnati.
