2022 NFL Draft: New York Jets take Ohio State WR Garrett Wilson in 1st round
Ohio State wide receiver Garrett Wilson is headed to New York.
Thursday night, the former Buckeye heard his name called in the first round, selected No. 10 overall by the New York Jets. Wilson was the first B1G wide receiver selected in this year’s draft and the second receiver overall behind USC’s Drake London.
Garrett Wilson will be used to pair with young QB Zach Wilson. Zach Wilson was New York’s first-round pick in 2021 at No. 2 overall.
Wilson closed out the 2021 season with 1,058 yards and 12 touchdowns on 70 receptions for the Buckeyes. He was part of a dynamic receiving corps that included Chris Olave, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and many others during Ohio State’s 11-2 campaign last year.
Wilson decided to enter his name into the NFL Draft following his third season in Columbus. His numbers improved every season at Ohio State and made an immediate impact after stepping on campus.
As a freshman in 2019, Wilson had 432 yards and 5 touchdowns on 30 catches, helping lead the Buckeyes to their first College Football Playoff berth since 2016. In the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign, Wilson had 723 yards and 6 touchdown grabs on 43 receptions.
Wilson was a two-time All-B1G selection.
