One thing that was quite common throughout the 2023 NFL Draft was that plenty of B1G products had their names called. In fact, it was the most players taken through the first two rounds in the Common Draft Era.

Before 1967 the NFL and AFL had their own separate drafts. Since that became too complicated, a decision was made to combine them into one single draft.

A total of 20 former B1G players were selected throughout the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday. The highest pick was none other than Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud. Out of the first 15 picks, five of them were B1G alumni.

Nine B1G players went off the board during the first round and 11 were selected in the second round.

More and more B1G talent is getting noticed. A good sign came last season when former Michigan DE Aidan Hutchinson became the second overall pick by the Detroit Lions.

The Power 5 as a whole did very well during the first round. There were no players chosen from a non-Power 5 program up until the second round on Friday.

It was an exciting 2023 NFL Draft for the B1G. Here’s hoping that B1G country continues to produce top NFL-ready talent in the future.
