247 Sports analyst tabs 3 redshirt freshman from the B1G who ‘demand attention’ in 2022

247 Sports analyst Chris Hummer made a list of redshirt freshmen who need to be paid attention to and 3 redshirt freshmen from the B1G were selected on the list.
True freshmen receive praise when they hit the ground running and redshirt freshmen can have a similar impact on the team. Redshirt freshmen have an additional year of experience to get ready for the bright lights of college football.
3 redshirt freshmen were picked to have solid seasons in 2022. The 3 redshirt freshmen from the B1G were (Via 247 Sports):
- Landon Tengwall, OG, Penn State
- Reid Carrico, LB, Ohio State
- Gavin Wimsatt, QB, Rutgers
In 2021, Tengwall played in 3 games in his redshirt season. He will be a key piece to Penn State’s offensive line in 2022. He was an important recruit in the Class of 2021 and will be a valued offensive lineman.
For Ohio State linebacker Reid Carrico, he will compete for one of the most competitive positions on Ohio State’s roster. Carrico could see significant playing time as the season progresses.
The 3rd and final B1G redshirt freshman who will be a name to pay attention to is Rutgers quarterback Gavin Wimsatt. As a true freshman in 2021, Wimsatt played in 4 games and he totaled 45 passing yards in 4 appearances. Wimsatt will look to compete for the starting job at Rutgers in his second season with the program.
The 3 redshirts will have an impact in the B1G.
