Iowa’s head coach Kirk Ferentz and offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz are coaches who are considered on the hot seat by 247Sports’ Brandon Marcello going into Week 3. Marcello did not hold back on Iowa (1-1) and the offense as it could be the reason for the team to have an underwhelming season.

“If Iowa does not score 30 points against Nevada, it’s completely broken there,” said Marcello. “Spencer Petras has thrown 1 touchdown pass in the last 10 games. That offense has always been like that with the Ferentz’s.”

He went on to say that things are going to need to change if Iowa wants to be competitive. This Nevada game could be a test for the Hawkeyes.

“They have to change things offensively,” said Marcello. “I don’t know if Iowa’s offense could every be exciting. It is what it is. I don’t know if he could just change overnight. If you can’t get it going against Nevada, something is very, very wrong.”

Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher, Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman, and Auburn’s Bryan Harsin were also on the conversation of the hot seat watch. Iowa was the only B1G team with a coach on the hot seat and the only team with two coaches on the hot seat.
