Three high-profile B1G players have been included on NFL.com’s top 10 list of Heisman Trophy candidates for the 2020 college football season.
A usual suspect is near the top of the list, with Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields sitting in the No. 2 spot on the list, behind only Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Fields has been one of the favorites to claim college football’s top individual honor since leading the Buckeyes to a 13-1 record and College Football Playoff appearance in 2019, accounting for 51 total touchdowns with just three interceptions.
Fields was a Heisman Trophy finalist last season, as well. LSU quarterback Joe Burrow was awarded the prestigious honor.
Coming in at No. 5 was Minnesota gunslinger Tanner Morgan, who helped lead the Gophers to an impressive 11-2 record, which included a victory over Auburn in the Outback Bowl. Morgan led the B1G in yards per pass attempt (10.2) and had 30 touchdown passes with seven picks.
Purdue wide receiver Rondale Moore rounded out the top 10, coming in at the No. 10 spot. The do-it-all Boilermaker missed most of last season with a leg injury, but was an All-American as a true freshman after accounting for 2,215 all-purpose yards and 14 touchdowns in 2018.
