Few people know college hoops the way Andy Katz does. No surprise, he has thoughts on those who elected to transfer programs this offseason.

Katz listed 3 players from the B1G on his top 15 transfers of the offseason. Illinois’ Terrence Shannon Jr, was granted the title of No. 1 transfer while Minnesota’s Dawson Garcia (No. 7) and Ohio State’s Isaac Likekele (No. 8) made the top 10.

Shannon was locked in last season at Texas Tech following the departure of Chris Beard to Texas. He averaged 9.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1 assist per game in 29 appearances. For his Red Raider career, Shannon averaged 45.6% from the range of 35.1% on 3-pointers.

“Shannon was a tough cover at Texas Tech,” Katz wrote. “He will be the same for Illinois in the Big Ten.”

Garica left North Carolina due to personal reasons and now will hope to be a difference-maker for the Golden Gophers inside the paint. Last season in 16 appearances, Garcia averaged 9 points, 5.5 rebounds and shot 40.5% from the range.

“Garcia had to leave North Carolina mid-season for personal reasons,” Katz wrote. “If he returns to his Marquette form from his freshman season then the Gophers could be a postseason team.”

Likekele, a 6-foot-5 guard who spent the past 4 years at Oklahoma State, has been a defensive wiz. He’s averaged 4.3 defensive rebounds for his career while also averaging 3.9 assists per outing. Throughout his 114 career games in Stillwater, Likekele started in 110.

“The Buckeyes desperately needed a big in the transfer portal who can board for them,” Katz wrote. “They got that in Likekele.”
