Illinois football announced 3 new additions to its 2022 class of the Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame on Monday. It was 2 former players and a longtime athletic director.
QB Jeff George, LB/G Bill Burrell, and former AD Ron Guenther all made it from the 2o22 class. George played at Illinois in the late 1980s, and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts with the 1st pick in the 1990 NFL Draft. Burrell made his mark on both sides of the ball in the 1950s, finishing 4th in Heisman voting in 1959. Guenther was the Fighting Illini’s AD from 1992-2011 and hired coaches like Bill Self during his tenure.
