The Wisconsin Badgers will reportedly keep a few key players through the 2024 season.
Steven Crowl, Max Klesmit, and Carter Gilmore are all entering their junior seasons in 2023-24. However, the trio are planning on taking advantage of the COVID-19 option year and playing in the 2024-25 season as well.
#Badgers coach Greg Gard said he talked to Crowl, Klesmit and Gilmore as early as last spring. All three decided then they had no plans to leave after 2023-’24. Gard notes those decisions should take any pressure off their shoulders. They can relax and play. https://t.co/iDjkcwXx7U

All 3 players figure to be key pieces in the rotation for this upcoming season.
In 2022-23, Crowl led the team in rebounds and blocks and was behind only Chucky Hepburn in points. Klesmit is a sharpshooter, having hit 38% of his 3-point attempts last season and averaging 8.4 points. Gilmore averaged 2.6 points and 2.5 rebounds in a rotational role.
The Badgers are returning all 5 of their highest-scoring players from 2022-23. Last season’s team did not receive a tournament invite but made it to the NIT. The Badgers would go on to win 3 NIT games before losing to the eventual champion North Texas Mean Green.
The Badgers will kick off the 2023-24 season against Arkansas State on Nov. 6.
