The Midseason watchlist for the Dodd Trophy has been released and there are quite a few Big Ten coaches on it. The Dodd Trophy is awarded annually to the NCAA Coach of the Year.
Here are the Big Ten coaches that are on the midseason watchlist:
- Ryan Day, Ohio State
- Tom Allen, Indiana
- Paul Chryst, Wisconsin
- Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern
None of those four coaches have previously won this award. The three former winners on the watchlist include Dabo Swinney of Clemson, Brian Kelly of Notre Dame, and Nick Saban of Alabama.
So far this year, Day, Allen, Chryst, and Fitzgerald have all led their teams to an undefeated record.
That’s going to change this weekend though, as Indiana plays Ohio State and Wisconsin plays Northwestern.
No matter the results of those games though, all four coaches will still likely be strong candidates as the season comes to a close.
