We are onto the final month of the college football season. End-of-season awards are starting to come out with their finalists.

The Butkus award for the nation’s premier Linebacker came out with its semifinalists.

The B1G is known for hard-nosed 3 yards and a cloud of dust type of football. They have excellent LBs year in and year out in the league.

That is no different in the 2021 season.

There are 4 B1G LBs on the semifinalist list for the Butkus Award.

  • Jack Campbell Iowa
  • Brandon Smith Penn State
  • Olakunle Fatuski Rutgers
  • Leo Chanel Wisconsin

All 4 of these B1G LBs have had spectacular seasons up to this point on the year.

For the Hawkeyes, Campbell has 73 total tackles, 33 solo tackles, 5 pass deflections, 2.5 tackles for loss, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 forced fumble, 1 sack and a touchdown on the year.

Smith has piled up 62 total tackles, 19 solo tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1 fumble recovery for Penn State.

Fatuski has 75 total tackles, 47 solo tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, 2 pass deflections and 2 forced fumbles for the Scarlet Knights.

For the Badgers, Chenal has 60 total tackles, 34 solo tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.

All 4 of these players will be in action Saturday with their respective teams.
