By the end of the week, Penn State will know if it has landed a commitment from heavily-recruited cornerback Jaeden Gould. The 4-star defensive back recently told 247Sports his commitment date plans.
Gould told 247Sports that he will be making his official announcement on Sunday, June 20, which is Father’s Day. He has narrowed down his list of options to Penn State and USC.
The commitment time is set for 6 p.m.
Gould, a New Jersey native, is listed at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds and is ranked just outside the Top 150 overall prospects in the 2022 recruiting class. He comes in at No. 153 nationally and is listed as the No. 18 cornerback of the cycle.
From 247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn:
Big frame with ideal cornerback length. Can easily play at 215 pounds. Elite athleticism. Explosive, fast, high football IQ. Hip looseness results in fluid change of direction. Possesses closing speed. Physical with ball in air. Aggressive down the field. Gets out of breaks on receiver’s hip. Drives on balls well. Needs to improve backpedal. Must develop jam to re-route receivers. Ability to shed block and tackle in running game needs work. Multi-year starter at Elite program. Day 2 NFL potential.
Gould received offers from several big-time programs on the recruiting front, including Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M and Wisconsin, among many others.
Penn State currently has the nation’s No. 6 recruiting class and sits at No. 3 in the B1G.
