Ohio State’s loaded recruiting class for 2022 just took a hit with one player decommitting and reopening his recruitment.
The decision comes from Benji Gosnell, a four-star tight end out of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina. He originally committed to the Buckeyes in November but is deciding to examine his options.
“This has been very hard,” wrote Gosnell on Twitter. “I’m thankful for the opportunity OSU has given me and the class they have shown throughout this tough decision. But after thorough discussion with my family, I have decommitted from Ohio State and opened up my recruitment.”

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 225 lbs., the industry-generated composite rankings rates Gosnell as the No. 13 TE nationally and No. 320 overall prospect for the cycle.
Fortunately, the Buckeyes still hold a commitment from another talented tight end. That player is Bennett Christian, a four-star recruit and the No. 14 TE prospect nationally on the composite rankings. Christian is listed at 6-foot-6 and 235 lbs. out of Acworth, Georgia.
