4-star WR previously committed to Michigan announces pledge to Big 12 program

A former member of Michigan’s 2021 recruiting class who recently decommitted from the program has announced his new destination.
Over the weekend, 4-star wide receiver Xavier Worthy revealed that he’ll be headed to the Big 12 to play college football. The California native an Top 75 overall prospect as committed to Texas. He made the announcement with a video posted to his social media account.

“Since graduating HS, I looked forward to starting my college football career at the University of Michigan, however; due to circumstances beyond my control, things did not go as planned — and I have submitted a [National Letter of Intent] release request,” Worthy wrote on Twitter in mid-April. “To the Michigan coaching staff, I have nothing but the utmost respect and appreciation for the opportunity offered to me. And to the Michigan fans I’ll always be grateful for all the love and support you’ve shown me.”
Worthy was the third-highest ranked prospect to commit to Michigan in the 2021 recruiting class, behind quarterback J.J. McCarthy (No. 24) and running back Donovan Edwards (No. 41).
