Indiana’s 2019 season came to a close when it lost to Tennessee 23-22 in heartbreaking fashion Thursday night.
However, not all was bad for the Hoosiers. Tight end Peyton Hendershot broke the single-season Indiana record for tight end receiving yards and receptions with 643 yards and 55 catches. The previous record-holder was Bob Stephenson, back in 1979.

After the game, Hendershot got a message on Twitter. It was somebody congratulating him. And, it wasn’t some random fan.
It was Stephenson:
CONGRATS @P_hendershot5 ! I guess 40 years is long enough for my record. I look forward to meeting you at Spring Ball and really enjoy watching you play. GREAT season by you and your teammates. Players make plays and you are a great player.

As Stephenson mentioned, they were 40 year-long records. At some point, they had to go down. The kind words from Stephenson may have meant more to Hendershot than anything.
