Nebraska had Rutgers stopped. The Scarlet Knights were facing a 4th-and-1, and the Huskers could’ve had a huge momentum builder with a stop to get the ball back late in the 1st half.

Then Isaih Pacheco got the football.

From 33 yards out, Pacheco took a handoff, busted through the defensive line and raced to the end zone for a long touchdown run to give Rutgers a 12-7 lead. The Scarlet Knights then capitalized on the 2-point conversion to make the score 14-7.

That ended up being the halftime tally on the scoreboard.

That was the only big run Pacheco enjoyed in the first 30 minutes of the game, but it proved to be an important one.

Entering Friday night’s game against Nebraska, Pacheco had accounted for 473 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns on 109 carries. He also has 122 yards and a touchdown on 19 receptions this year.

If Rutgers is able to hang on, it will finish the year 4-5. That would mean the Scarlet Knights closed the 2020 season with more B1G victories than the program had in the previous four seasons under former head coach Chris Ash.
