The B1G is known for their tough grind out three yards and a cloud of dust defensive football. Five B1G teams have lived up to that billing so far. Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue and Wisconsin have all earned shutout victories this season.
Each shutout victory is listed below:
- Michigan defeated UCONN 59-0
- Michigan State defeated Akron 52-0
- Minnesota defeated New Mexico State 38-0
- Purdue defeated Indiana State 56-0
- Wisconsin defeated Illinois State 38-0

Granted none of these opponents were beat in conference play, but in this day and age where football is all about offense, offense, offense. It’s now even more impressive if you shutout your opponent at any level of football.
Most surprising on the list of these 5 schools is Purdue as they are usually known for their offensive prowess, the opponent was an FCS school but Purdue has struggled with FCS opponents in the past.
It will be interesting to see how these five defenses now stack up in conference play. There may be a few more shutouts in store in the B1G this season.
