It’s late June, and 5-star defensive lineman and the nation’s No. 3-ranked recruit in the 2021 class, J.T. Tuimoloau is still considering his options. He received two dozen offers, but he says he’s narrowing his focus down to just four programs.
Ohio State, which made a strong impression on Tuimoloau during a visit, is one of those schools in the mix. The other three are all in the Pac-12.
“I’m going to focus on the four schools I’ve visited,” Tuimoloau told 247Sports. “Ohio State, Oregon, Washington and USC.”
Earlier this week, Tuimoloau canceled a visit to Alabama, a big decision as the Crimson Tide were thought to be right in the mix for the 6-foot-4, 277-pound defensive lineman out of Washington. He made that decision following a June 18 visit to Columbus.
Tuimoloau has been one of the most coveted recruits in the class, ranking as the No. 24 most-talented player all-time, per 247Sports Composite. He’s likely to make an early impact for whichever programs he signs with ahead of the season.
Ohio State already owns the nation’s No. 2 class for 2021 and sits at the top of the B1G. Adding a player of Tuimoloau’s caliber to the group would be an even bigger boost for Ryan Day and his staff.
