One prospect previously committed to Oklahoma has switched his pledge following Lincoln Riley’s move to Southern California.
On Sunday, Riley accepted the job with the Trojans just hours after losing to Oklahoma State in a wild Bedlam showdown. It did not take long for a number of Sooner commits to re-open their recruitment, and one of those prospects is following Riley to USC.
That prospect is 5-star QB Malachi Nelson for the class of 2022. According to the industry-generated composite rankings, Nelson is the No. 2 QB and No. 2 overall prospect in the nation for the cycle.
He is out of Los Alamitos, California, and Riley’s move was enough for Nelson to decide to stay home for college:

According to reports following Riley’s decision, it is likely Nelson is not the only California prospect that will re-open recruitment or give the Trojans a second look now that Riley is leading the program. It will be interesting to see how the recruiting classes shape up with 2 weeks to go before the Early Signing Period.
