One of the best running backs in the 2020 recruiting class is reportedly back on the market.
Thursday, 247Sports reported that 5-star running back Demarkcus Bowman has entered his name in the transfer portal. He was a member of Clemson’s 2020 recruiting class and ranked as the No. 3 ball carrier of the cycle.
Bowman has appeared in both of Clemson’s games to start the season. In the first two games, Bowman has taken 9 carries for 32 yards, third-highest total for the Tigers to open the 2020 campaign. In his first appearance against Wake Forest, the running back had 22 yards on 6 touches.
As a recruit, Bowman was the No. 20 overall prospect in the 2020 class. The Lakeland, Fla. native received numerous offers from big-time programs. Out of the B1G, Michigan, Nebraska and Ohio State all extended offers.
It’s unclear whether or not Bowman is looking to return closer to home or if he’s just searching for a better fit. Either way, his phone could be ringing off the hook over the next few days and weeks as he explores other options.
Clemson is off to a 2-0 start.
