The Big Ten and in particular, Ohio State, are well represented on the Sporting News’ 2020 All-American team.

Alabama, not surprisingly, had nine players across the first-two teams, which was compiled by Bill Bender.

Ohio State, No. 3 in the nation and ready to play No. 2 Clemson on New Year’s Day in the College Football Playoff, led the Big Ten with four players selected. A total of six players from the conference made the top two teams.

The Buckeyes saw guard Wyatt Davis on the first-team offense, another honor for one of the best linemen in the nation this year. He was the only Big Ten selection on the Sporting News first team.

Iowa’s Daviyon Nixon made the first-team, with Bender noting that the defensive tackle is “one of the biggest playmakers in the Big Ten.” Ohio State cornerback Shaun Wade and Northwestern freshman Brandon Joseph, a safety, also made the first-team.

He had six interceptions, including an acrobatic one-handed pick in the Big Ten championship game against Ohio State. He had two picks each in key Big Ten West games against Wisconsin and Iowa, too. Joseph added 43 tackles on top of that.

Josh Myers, a center for Ohio State, made the second-team as did Buckeyes defensive lineman Haskell Garrett.
