8-0? ESPN’s FPI updates odds Ohio State enters B1G CG undefeated

The Ohio State Buckeyes are 4-0, ranked in the top three, and, according to ESPN’s FPI metric, their worst percentage odds for winning every game the rest of the season will come against Michigan, where they have a 93.3% chance to win.
The Buckeyes have a 95.7% chance to beat Illinois in Champaign, and a 97.7% chance of knocking off Michigan State in East Lansing. Back in Columbus, to use the reverse metric, Michigan will march into the Horseshoe knowing there’s a 6.7 percent chance of achieving victory over their nastiest rival.
Hey, crazier things have happened over the 151-year history of college football… at least it’s a good bet that they have.
The third-ranked Buckeyes survived a scary onslaught from a quality Indiana Hoosiers team last Saturday, winning 42-35 on a day they played poorly in several facets of the game. If Ohio State pulls it together and wins out, as they’re clearly expected to do, their likeliest opponent at this moment is an undefeated Northwestern in the Big Championship game.
It may be a wild year but for the Buckeyes, it seems to be shaping up like a lot of previous seasons in the Big Ten. Time will tell if Ryan Day can lead his team to another conference championship and undefeated season.
