BTN’s Joshua Perry power ranks his top 5 QBs in the B1G

Josh Perry is used to delivering hits on quarterbacks, and the former Ohio State linebacker is now giving out some high marks to some quarterbacks in the Big Ten.
This week, Perry announced his top five quarterbacks currently in the Big Ten. It is not a surprise that Perry thinks that Justin Fields from Ohio State is the best quarterback in the conference, even coming after a 42-35 win over Indiana this past Saturday where he threw three interceptions.
They were the first interceptions he’s thrown all season:
“We saw Justin Fields, really for the first time in his career, look human as a quarterback against Indiana. Threw three interceptions, two of them were really bad on plays where he was maybe trying to do a little too much but still, the only three interceptions he’s thrown all year – 13 touchdowns to back that up,” Perry said in his analysis.
“He’s still about 79 percent completion which is wild. Even on his worst day, he throws for 300 yards. The guy is extremely talented.”
No. 1 should come as no surprise – Justin Fields stands alone.

Perry also had plenty of positives to point out about Michael Penix Jr., the Indiana quarterback who has been a revelation this year. In fact, Penix was better than Fields in Indiana’s Saturday loss at Ohio State.
He threw for 491 yards with five touchdowns and an interception as the Hoosiers battled the nation’s No. 3 team in Ohio State.
“A guy who is going to extend the play with his legs, not necessarily run the ball,” Perry said.
“I love the fastball he has. I think he can get the ball from the far hash to the sideline with some zip on it. He can throw it down the field with some zip. Again, a guy who has a ton of weapons offensively and he knows how to use them.”
Perry likes Aidan O’Connell of Purdue who he says is a “big stat guy…they love to throw the ball in that offense it takes a quarterback who can do so.”
Northwestern’s Peyton Ramsey, a transfer from Indiana, is fourth according to Perry. He is a “guy who knows how to operate within the offense…he’s taken care of the ball pretty well; he’s risen up in moments.”
Maryland sophomore Taulia Tagovailoa and Graham Mertz, a freshman, came in tied for fifth on the list.
