Aaron Rodgers has decided to weigh in on the controversial call in Week 8’s Iowa-Minnesota game.
Iowa was trailing 12-10 with 1:41 left when Cooper DeJean ran a punt back for a go-ahead touchdown. The play went under review and officials waved off the touchdown, claiming DeJean signaled for a fair catch, ending the play upon the ball being secured.

The play came up during Rodgers’ weekly Tuesday appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.” The New York Jets quarterback used the word “ridiculous” multiple times in assessing the call. Rodgers shares the opinion that waving off gunners should not be considered a fair catch signal, forfeiting the possibility of any return. He also questioned the nature of changing the call under review.
Rodgers wasn’t ready to call it the worst call he’s ever seen, but was comfortable calling it “the most ridiculous call I’ve seen in quite some time.” If it’s any consolation to Iowa fans, Rodgers says he feels “terrible” for the Hawkeye faithful.
