Shannon Mack just couldn’t help but make the news public. She was too excited to keep it all to herself.
On Friday, the mother of Ohio State wide receiver Austin Mack confirmed that her son would be starting in the Week 1 matchup against Indiana. Out of pure joy, she shared the welcomed news on Twitter:
I received AWESOME news today that @Austin_Mack10 will be starting in next Thursday game vs IU so proud of you #11AM #zone6 pic.twitter.com/hqVHTBwf40

Not only will this be Mack’s first start at the college level, it’ll be a homecoming for the wide receiver, a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Mack enrolled early in 2016 but wasn’t a primary option in the Buckeyes offense. He caught just two passes for 15 yards last fall, though he did appear in 11 games.
A former four-star recruit, Mack has been turning heads and impressing his coaches throughout spring practice and fall camp. He’s expected to be one of the top targets for J.T. Barrett this fall.
