Michigan State has received some good news from 2019 strong-side defensive end commit Adam Berghorst.
Sunday, Berghorst announced that he will be a two-sport athlete at Michigan State, passing on the opportunity to play professional baseball for now. The three-star strong-side defensive end had been weighing his options over the last several weeks. He was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 2019 MLB Draft.
“Honored to be drafted by the Rangers in the MLB Drat but after many prayers and thoughts I will still continue my plan of furthering my education and football and baseball career at Michigan State University,” Berghorst wrote on Twitter.

Last month, Michigan State lost one of its 2019 commits who was faced with the same decision. Three-star receiver Jase Bowen decided to pursue his baseball career after being selected in the 11th round of the MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also would’ve been a two-sport athlete with the Spartans.
Berghorst was selected in the 14th round by the Rangers.
As a football recruit, Berghorst is the No. 42 strong-side defensive end in the 2019 class. He’s also a top 20 player out of the state of Michigan and ranks No. 655 overall, per 247Sports.
