Nebraska has one of the most passionate fan bases in college football. With a home sellout streak that has lasted over 50 years and a support system that travels extremely well, there’s always plenty of support for the Huskers.
And that’s exactly what worries the University on Colorado. On Sept. 7, the Huskers and Buffaloes go head to head in Boulder, and Colorado doesn’t want to see much red in the stadium that afternoon.
In a recent release from Colorado Athletics, the department announced that season ticket holders would have first access to purchase additional, exclusive tickets to the rivalry game against Nebraska. But, there’s a catch.
Because the Huskers travel so well and the university doesn’t want an invasion of red on that Saturday, the department is threatening to cancel those tickets if they are found on secondary markets.
“These tickets are not intended for re-sale, and we reserve the right to cancel your order if we see tickets purchased during this presale on the secondary market (Vivid Seats, StubHub, etc.),” the athletic department said in a statement.

It’s understandable that the athletic department wants the stadium to be filled with black and gold, but Colorado isn’t really in a great position to threaten its fans. The Buffaloes have had just one winning record in the last 14 seasons.
Nebraska has been known to bring its “Sea of Red” to opposing stadiums quite frequently. Last year, Husker fans created a home-like environment at Northwestern’s Ryan Field in a B1G West showdown against the Wildcats.
Colorado has no interest in creating another home game for the Huskers on Sept. 7.
