An arrest has been made in a 15-year old cold case of Miami Hurricanes football player Bryan Pata.
In what has become one of South Florida’s most infamous unsolved murder cases, Pata was shot to death while outside his apartment in November of 2006. On Thursday, police confirmed that 35-year old Rashaun Jones had been taken into custody for the murder of Pata.

According to reports, Pata was 22-years old at the time and was walking from his car toward the stairs of his apartment complex located off Southwest 77th Avenue and 93rd Street in November, 2006 when he was shot in the back of the head.
The Miami Herald reported that Jones, who was a teammate of Pata’s at Miami, had been a suspect in the case.
No motive has been released and the story is developing.
