After brief pause, Iowa resumes team activities as Music City Bowl awaits

There is little rest for the weary.

Iowa football is back, this after a five days rest that was as much about their health as it was the holiday season.

While coinciding with the Christmas holiday, the break comes against the backdrop of a COVID-19 breakout within the football team. Several players and coaches tested positive for the coronavirus, leaving the Hawkeyes participation in the upcoming Music City Bowl in some doubt.

It is a good sign for the Big Ten team, that they returned after five days away from the field ahead of the Dec. 30 Music City Bowl.

The team paused team activities this past Monday due to the spread of the pandemic within their team. Despite this setback, the team’s leadership council approved the team’s trip to Nashville for the bowl game.

Their opponent in the upcoming Music City Bowl is Missouri, who are 5-5 heading into the postseason.

The Hawkeyes go into the looming bowl contest at 6-2 and No. 15 in the nation, having won their last six games after an unlucky start to the season.
