Back from 2012-13, Bill O’Brien was the head coach at Penn State.

The Nittany Lions back then were trying to turn over a new leaf, and under O’Brien, the team went 15-9 in those 2 seasons, while making 2 bowl games. O’Brien had — at the least — stabilized the program for the next head coach.

O’Brien took off for the NFL after two seasons at Penn State, but he liked his time there. On Thursday, he said that and more, as his Houston Texans were in town to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

“Love Penn State,” O’Brien said Tuesday during a teleconference with Philadelphia media. “My experience at Penn State, my family’s experience there was great. Still have a lot of friends that live there. We made a lot of great, special friends there and follow them as much as we can.

“It’s a fantastic place. It’s great to see them having the success that they’re having now. Penn State’s a special place.”

O’Brien is doing well in Houston, as the Texans are currently 10-4 overall and would be the No. 2 seed in the playoffs if they started today. Penn State, of course, has done well without O’Brien, as well.
