Aidan Hutchinson pulls in more weekly honors following Michigan’s win over Washington

More honors are coming Aidan Hutchinson’s direction.

The Michigan defensive lineman was named the Reese’s Senior Bowl Defensive Player of the Week following his outstanding performance in a 31-10 win over Washington. Now, he’s earned the Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week honors.

Hutchinson was a problem for the Husky offense all night long in Ann Arbor.

Hutchinson finished Saturday’s contest with 4 total tackles, which included 3 solo stops and 2.5 sacks. He was also credited with a hurry in the Week 2 victory.

Deciding to come back for one more season, Hutchinson and the Wolverines are off to a hot start this season. Michigan has posted convincing wins over Western Michigan and Washington in the first two weeks of the season. It rounds out non-league play this weekend against Northern Illinois.

In those two games, Hutchinson has already been credited with 8 stops, 3.5 sacks, 2 quarterback hurries, a forced fumble and a blocked kick. That’s a pretty good start for a lineman who spent most of the 2020 season on the sideline with injury.

Hutchinson, so far, is thriving in Michigan’s new defensive scheme under Mike Macdonald. It’ll be interesting to see if he continues to keep the motor running as the competition gets tougher throughout the course of the B1G season.
