Aidan O’Connell is expected to make his first career NFL start for the Las Vegas Raiders against the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday afternoon.
O’Connell will take the field in place of Jimmy Garoppolo, who is dealing with a concussion he suffered last week against Pittsburgh.
It’s a pretty big day for the former Boiler:

O’Connell had a strong career for Purdue from 2019-2022. His best season came in 2021, when he passed for 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, leading the Boilermakers to a strong 9-4 record.
He was taken in the 4th round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Raiders and performed well in preseason. Now, he’s heading out to do it for real against one of the NFL’s most inconsistent teams.
