The drama is over. Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has made his decision regarding the 2020 season.
On Monday, Tagovailoa announced during a press conference with Nick Saban that he will be forgoing the rest of his time at Alabama and will declare for the 2020 NFL Draft. The decision comes after the Crimson Tide finish the 2019 season with an 11-2 and a Citrus Bowl victory over Michigan.
Tagovailoa was the starter to open the season and played in nine games for Alabama, before suffering a season-ending injury against Mississippi State. With Tagovailoa playing, the Crimson Tide were 8-1, with the lone loss coming to LSU.
This season, Tagovailoa threw for 2,840 yards and 33 touchdowns this season with a 71.4 percent completion rate. He also rushed for two touchdowns.
Tagovailoa is most famous for stepping in during the second half of the 2017 national championship against Georgia. After trailing late in the game, Saban made the decision to pull Jalen Hurts and insert Tagovailoa into the lineup. He led a furious charge, taking the game to overtime and eventually defeated the Bulldogs 26-23.
During his career at Alabama, Tagovailoa threw for 7,442 yards and 87 touchdowns. He also rushed for seven scores during his career.
