An alarming text message that Urban Meyer’s wife, Shelley Meyer, sent him back in July has added another twist to the scandal at Ohio State.
Thursday morning, Kyle Rowland of the Toledo Blade tweeted that on July 23, the same day as B1G Media Days, Meyer received a text message from his wife saying she was worried that former assistant coach Zach Smith, who had been fired for an alleged domestic violence arrest, would “do something dangerous.”
The text message was available in the report that was published after Ohio State concluded its investigation.
At 7:35 p.m. on July 23, Shelley Meyer texted Urban, “I am worried about Zach’s response. He drinks a lot and I am just not sure how stable he will be. Afraid he will do something dangerous. It’s obvious he has anger/rage issues already.” Urban did not respond.

Urban Meyer did not respond to that message.
Meyer has been suspended for the first three games of the 2018 season.
