Alex Padilla replaces Spencer Petras at QB, has turnover on first snap vs. Ohio State

Alex Padilla is getting his shot at quarterback for Iowa. Unfortunately, his first play against Ohio State ended in a similar fashion to that of Spencer Petras.
On the opening play from scrimmage against the Buckeyes, Petras threw an ill-advised interception. He would eventually throw a pick-6 and have a fumble off a sack by the Buckeye defense.
To start the second half, Padilla is getting his turn under center for Iowa, but the results have not been good. He started his time with the offense by fumbling the snap, a quick turnover after an insane interception by star linebacker Jack Campbell.

That fumble would not be the end of Padilla’s early struggles. On a 2nd-and-9 play, Padilla’s attempted pass toward Sam LaPorta was off target.
LaPorta was only able to get a hand on the ball, a deflection that wound up going to the Buckeye defense for another Iowa turnover.

We’ll see if the Hawkeyes have a third quarterback on the roster they’re willing to try on the road in Columbus.
