Trayce Jackson-Davis is coming back for one more year with the Hoosiers. After investigating the NBA Draft and planning to take part in the combine, Jackson-Davis eventually withdraw his name and returned to Indiana for 2022-23.
In a video interview with Andy Katz of BTN, Jackson-Davis discussed that decision. He confirmed that he tested positive for COVID ahead of his draft workouts and that the positive test was “almost like a sign” in terms of which decision to make.
Jackson-Davis also addressed the hype around the Hoosiers this offseason and admitted it’s a very real possibility that Indiana has a big year during 2022-23.
“It’s very plausible,” said Jackson-Davis. “We have a great team coming back next season.” He also explained how the team finally turned a corner late in the 2021-22 campaign, a step he believes the team will use to catapult even higher.
What went into @TrayceJackson‘s decision to return to @IndianaMBB?
An untimely case of COVID during the NBA Combine was “a sign” to go back to Bloomington.

Head coach Mike Woodson is certainly happy to have his star back for one more year, but Woodson has not been shy about what Jackson-Davis needs to do to improve. Woodson explained that Jackson-Davis “needs to shoot the basketball, and feel good about shooting” next season.
