Andrew Van Ginkel got a chance to do something not a lot of line backers get to do in the Dolphins game against Chicago on Sunday.

The former Wisconsin LB scooped up a Bears blocked punt, lumbering to the end zone and increasing the Dolphins lead 21-10. It was just the 4th pun block of the season across the NFL.

As a transfer, Van Ginkel arrived at Wisconsin in 2017 after year-long stints at the University of South Dakota and Iowa Western community college. As a Badger, Van Ginkel recorded 19.5 tackles for loss and 12 sacks in 2 seasons. He also picked off 2 passes, recovered a fumble, forced 4 fumbles, and scored a touchdown.

Van Ginkel was drafted 151st overall in the 5th round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. In his first year, the LB was placed on injured reserve. Van Ginkel bounced back and excelled in his 2nd season, including earning the record for the second longest fumble return in Dolphins’ team history on a scoop-and-score against the Rams.

Miami is ahead 21-17 at halftime on Sunday.
