There’s a new No. 1 team in the AP Top 25 this week.
Following Texas’s loss to Ohio State, the Buckeyes have jumped into that No. 1 overall placement. Ohio State was No. 3 last week but moved up a couple of spots thanks to a dominant defensive performance against the Longhorns.
Ohio State is joined by Big Ten foe Penn State in the top-2. The Nittany Lions held on to the No. 2 spot this week, narrowly edging out LSU. Penn State crushed Nevada in its season-opener on Saturday.
Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Oregon moved up a spot to No. 6 overall this week. Illinois just missed out on top-10 status, but is at No. 11 entering this week’s matchup against Duke.
Michigan is at No. 15 in this week’s poll, but could move up significantly if it’s able to upset No. 18 Oklahoma on the road in Week 2. At No. 23 overall, Indiana is the only other ranked Big Ten program this week. The Hoosiers fell 3 spots after they won 27-14 against Old Dominion in Week 1.
USC and Nebraska both received votes, but did not garner enough support to crack the top 25.
