Archie Miller frustrated with Indiana’s performance vs. Northwestern: ‘We stunk on both ends of the floor’

It’s been an up and down start to the 2020-21 season for Indiana basketball.
The Hoosiers have picked up some key wins, including one against in-state rival Butler. But there have been some downs, such as Wednesday’s loss to Northwestern. It was Indiana’s third loss of the season and a game where head coach Archie Miller was unimpressed with his team’s performance.

Some pretty blunt words from Miller. This is Miller’s fourth season in Bloomington. With a program like Indiana, there are always expectations. This has to be especially true now with Miller now firmly in the role of head coach with his guys out there taking the floor each night.
So far this season, it hasn’t appeared that the Hoosiers are set to take a big step forward. Indiana has lost to Texas and Florida State, two ranked opponents. Now, this loss to the Wildcats makes things worse.
In defense of the Hoosiers, it did seem like a bad time to play Northwestern. The Wildcats were riding high after pulling off the shocking upset of Michigan State on Sunday. Northwestern rode that momentum by jumping out to a big lead early in Wednesday’s game and holding on as Indiana found itself struggling to consistently score as the Hoosiers suffered multiple scoring droughts in the loss.
Unfortunately for Indiana, the road doesn’t get much easier. On Saturday, the Hoosiers head on the road to face a ranked Illinois squad.
