Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk, from Lommel, Belgium, is going to get a rare visit from his family. The sophomore forward for Illinois doesn’t get to see his family much since he came to the United States to play college basketball. However, his family has made the trip to Illinois to see him play against Arkansas State on Friday.

Joey Wagner of the Illini Inquirer and 247Sports shared the news on Thursday night via Twitter.

“I saw them in August when I went back home, but it had been like 2 years for them since they’d been here,” Bosmans-Verdonk said.

The Fighting Illini are coming off a 71-47 win against Jackson State on Tuesday to open the season. Bosmans-Verdonk had 5 points to go with 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal in 21 minutes in the game. He shot 2-for-4 from the field.

You can see the Bosmans-Verdonk family reunion Friday at 9 p.m. ET as No.11 Illinois (1-0) and Arkansas State (1-0) meet in the State Farm Center.
