Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn on Purdue WR Rondale Moore: ‘One of the best players in all of college football’

Purdue has had some thrilling wins and some disappointing losses in 2018.

The Boilermakers, after all, did finish 6-6. Highs took place, as did lows. They weren’t perfect.

But, there was one particular bright spot that shined throughout the season and seemingly no matter the game: freshman WR Rondale Moore. Moore racked up numerous awards throughout the year and after the regular season. One of those awards was the Paul Hornung Award, given to the nation’s most versatile player.

Again, he’s just a freshman. And a 5-foot-9 freshman at that.

But boy is he electric.

Moore caught 103 passes for 1,164 yards and 12 TD this season. On the ground — again, he’s primarily a WR — he rushed for 203 yards and another TD.

Moore can do it all, and before his freshman campaign is even over, the whole country knows about him. This includes Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn.

Purdue and Auburn are slated to play in the Music City Bowl at 1:30 p.m. ET on ESPN on Friday, Dec. 28. Moore will be there. Malzahn knows that, and made a statement about the ridiculously talented freshman the day before the game:

Malzahn isn’t the only one to think this, either. Odds have already been posted for the 2019 Heisman Trophy and Moore, at +1500, has the 11th-best odds in the entire country.

Moore isn’t sneaking up on anybody.
