Ayo Dosunmu landed with the Chicago Bulls in the 2021 NBA Draft after starring at Illinois. Now, he’s reportedly staying put with the Bulls via a new contract extension.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Dosunmu and the Bulls have agreed to a 3-year extension worth $21 million. The extension comes after Dosunmu started 51 games for the franchise a season ago.

Dosunmu appeared in 80 games last season and averaged 8.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 49% from the floor. While those numbers do not jump off the board, he has developed into a regular rotational piece for the Bulls and a key defender for the team.

According to Wojnarowski, Dosunmu held opponents to 44% as the closest defender, putting the guard among the league’s best players who defended at least 700 shots. He has played 157 games for Chicago in the past two seasons.

While at Illinois, Dosunmu was a consensus All-American and a 2-time All-B1G selection. He was also the B1G Tournament MVP one season and averaged 16.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 90 career games.

Now, Dosunmu will try to continue his development during the 2023-24 season.
