The B1G has announced the award winners from the 2021-22 women’s basketball season. The announcements were made on Tuesday, two days after the conclusion of the regular season.

Iowa’s Caitlin Clark was named the B1G Player of the Year after a magnificent season, leading the Hawkeyes to a share of the conference regular season title. She finished the season averaging 27.5 points, 8.3 assists and 7.9 rebounds per game.

Clark also posted 5 triple-doubles and hit the 40-point mark 3 times for the Hawkeyes.

Michigan’s Kim Barnes Arico was named the B1G Coach of the Year after nearly leading the Wolverines to a share of the B1G regular season title.

Michigan finished the B1G season with a 13-4 record, a half-game behind Ohio State and Iowa in first. A canceled game might have cost the Wolverines a share of the championship.

The Wolverines finished with a 22-5 mark overall.

Northwestern’s Veronica Burton was named the Defensive Player of the Year for a third consecutive year after another great season in Evanston.

Burton was a menace on the floor, averaging over 4 steals and nearly 1 block per game for the Wildcats. Northwestern closed out the season with a 16-11 mark in regular season play, which included an 8-8 mark against B1G teams.

Nebraska’s Alexis Markowski was named the B1G Freshman of the Year. In her first season with the Huskers, Markowski averaged 13 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

Markowski posted an impressive 6 double-doubles for the Huskers and shot nearly 52% from the floor.

Maryland’s Shyanne Sellers was named the B1G Sixth Player of the Year, providing some much-needed sparks for the Terrapins throughout the year.

In 28 games, Sellers averaged 7.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game. The Terrapins ended the regular season with a 21-7 record.
