Week 6 is officially in the books with the conference race starting to take shape in the B1G. On Monday, the conference also announced the standout performers from the full weekend of action.

In total, 5 players were honored with a pair of freshmen splitting Freshmen of the Week honors in the B1G.

Offensive Player of the Week

  • QB CJ Stroud, Ohio State

In a road trip to East Lansing, Stroud went off for 6 touchdowns against Michigan State. He was particularly efficient on throws deep down the field and threw a trio of touchdowns to Marvin Harrison Jr.

Stroud is now up to 24 touchdowns on the season and could make a run at the single-season program record for passing touchdowns. That mark is 50 and is held by Dwayne Haskins.

Defensive Player of the Week

  • DB Kamo’I Latu, Wisconsin

Latu had a big outing in the blowout win over Northwestern. He grabbed his first career interception and then picked up a second later in the game to help lead a huge win for the Badgers in Jim Leonhard’s head-coaching debut.

Special Teams Player of the Week

  • K Fabrizio Pinton, Illinois

Pinton stepped into the spotlight with his first career field goals for the Illini. He recorded all 9 points in the win over Iowa, including a game-winning kick with less than 3 minutes in the game.

Co-Freshmen of the Week

  • K Fabrizio Pinton, Illinois
  • LB Jaishawn Barham, Maryland

In addition to special teams honor, Pinton was also recognized as a freshman standout following his kicking exploits of Week 6.

Barham had 5 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 TFL and a fumble recovery for the Terps against Purdue. Unfortunately, Maryland’s defense could not come up with a late stop with the Boilermakers scoring a pair of late touchdowns for the win.
