Several stars shined bright in the first week of the 2017 college football season, especially out of the B1G. But only a handful of players stood head-and-shoulders above everyone else.
The B1G announced the Players of the Week after the first Saturday of the year. Here are the standouts that earned honors following a strong Week 1 performance:
Offense
J.T. Barrett, Ohio State – 20/35, 304 yards, 3 TDs (passing), 61 yards, TD (rushing)
Saquon Barkley, Penn State – 14 carries, 172 yards, 2 TDs (rushing), 3 catches, 54 yards (receiving)
Defense
Josey Jewell, Iowa – 14 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks
Special Teams
Antoine Brooks, Maryland – TD following blocked kick
Quinn Nordin, Michigan – 4/6 field goals, 3/3 extra points
Freshman
J.K. Dobbins, Ohio State – 29 carries, 181 yards (rushing), 2 catches, 24 yards (receiving)
