The B1G has named the Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week following the first full week in February.

Penn State’s Lamar Stevens was named the B1G Player of the Week while Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis was named the B1G Freshman of the Week. Stevens helped lead the Nittany Lions to two wins this past week and moving up in the latest Associated Press poll to No. 13. Jackson-Davis was stellar against Purdue, but his performance was overshadowed in the loss.

Stevens scored a career-high 33 points in Penn State’s 83-77 victory over Minnesota on Saturday. He also grabbed seven rebounds in the victory. Earlier in the week, he helped the Nittany Lions secure an impressive road victory over Michigan State in the Breslin Center, scoring 24 points and getting seven boards in a 75-70 win.

Stevens played all but four minutes in the 80 minutes of basketball this past week. Penn State is now 8-4 in the B1G, just one game behind Maryland for first.

Jackson-Davis and the Hoosiers played just one game last week, a 74-62 loss to rival Purdue. But the freshman was the biggest reason Indiana had a chance at a win at all, scoring 16 points and grabbing eight rebounds with four assists in 34 minutes. He was the game’s leading scorer.

Indiana is now 5-7 in conference play and is searching to add quality wins to its tournament resume.
