The NCAA transfer portal has been busy this past month, and on Thursday a pair of Power-5 quarterbacks joined the list of players looking to suit up elsewhere next fall.
With Michigan State already landing Temple transfer Anthony Russo, either could be potential targets for some of the other B1G programs looking to shore up their QB situation.
Arizona’s sophomore quarterback Grant Gunnell and Virginia Tech’s Hendon Hooker both announced their plans to enter the portal.
Confirmed: Grant Gunnell in the portal. Doesn’t mean 100% he’s going to leave but that’s the current situation

Gunnell announced his plan less than a week after the dismissal of Wildcats head coach Kevin Sumlin. Gunnell had been committed to Texas A&M when Sumlin was in College Station.
Posting just a 1-7 record as a starter over his two seasons, Gunnell completed 165 of 248 passes for 1,864 yards and 15 touchdowns.
For Hooker, the Virginia Tech season didn’t meet with expectations, ending up with a 5-6 record. The former four-star recruit played eight games in 2020, and since graduating in December has decided to finish his college career elsewhere.

In his eight games this season, Hooker was 98-of-150 passing for 1,339 yards, nine touchdowns, and added 620 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the ground.
With Nebraska and Penn State both dealing with issues at quarterback, and Rutgers or Illinois possibly being in the QB market, a potential move to the B1G could be a good fit for either of these two.
