B1G bowl projections after Week 4: Holding pattern

A weekend that saw the Big Ten’s top team have an unexpected week off also saw the league’s order — or at least its 2020 order — be maintained.

Indiana and Northwestern continued their undefeated seasons. Penn State and Michigan continued their atrocious seasons. Ohio State, our projected College Football Playoff participant from the B1G, sat out;  the Buckeyes’ game against the Terps was canceled because of a spike in COVID-19 cases at Maryland.

The Wolverines are out of the bowl projections after their blowout loss at home against Wisconsin on Saturday. Moving into their spot is Iowa, which won in a romp over Minnesota as the Hawkeyes evened their record at 2-2. Nebraska also earns a nod, for now, after beating Penn State, but that’s assuming the Cornhuskers can knock off a few bottom-rung West teams.

And in the 2020 order of things, who knows? Again, these projections are based on where we think teams will end up after the B1G conference championship game, not where they are now.

Here are the latest B1G bowl projections:

Rose Bowl: Ohio State vs. Clemson

Fiesta Bowl: Wisconsin vs. Oregon

Citrus Bowl: Indiana vs. Auburn

Outback Bowl: Northwestern vs. Missouri

Duke’s Mayo Bowl: Purdue vs. N.C. State

Music City Bowl: Iowa vs. Tennessee

Pinstripe Bowl: Maryland vs. Pitt

Guaranteed Rate Bowl: Nebraska vs. West Virginia
