Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State and Minnesota remain unbeaten a week into October.
Pretty soon, those teams will all start knocking each other off.
Wisconsin is at Ohio State on Oct. 26. Penn State is at Minnesota Nov. 9 then at OSU on Nov. 23. And of course Wisconsin and Minnesota renew acquaintances over Paul Bunyan’s Axe on Nov. 30 in Minneapolis.
But there is a lot of football to come and a lot of upsets could happen between now and then.
The Big Ten’s bowl picture continues to morph every week. This week we have to drop Northwestern from our projections — we kept faith in the Wildcats for a while coming off of their B1G West Division title in 2018. But at 1-4 after Saturday’s loss to Nebraska, Northwestern faces a difficult path to reach six wins and bowl eligibility, even in the comparatively weaker division in the B1G.
So we are now projecting nine B1G teams to reach the postseason. We could be wrong. A lot of games remain to prove us wrong.
Now, on to our B1G bowl projections, in the conference’s approximate bowl selection order:
